Gargzdai - Center starostvo (syanyunii) as part of self-government in the region Klaipeda Klaipeda, Lithuania situated in the west, on the river Minija, right tributary of the Neman River. The ancient settlement, the first written mention - 1253. Previous name - Gorge. City rights were obtained in 1792. The city's name is removed from the Lithuanian word gargzdas "coarse sand, pebbles".
