A small historical reference

Sigulda - center of Sigulda region, located in the central part of the country, on the River Gauja in the Gauja National Park. Date of establishment - 1207, when the Order of the Sword began construction of the castle Segewold (Siegwald «Forest victory"). The eventful history has left around Sigulda castles and fortresses, the most important of which is the recently reconstructed castle Turaida (Treydensky lock).

Attractions - Turaida (Treydensky) castle (1214), the New Sigulda castle (1878-1881), the manor Nurmuyzha, bobsleigh track.
