A small historical reference
Rezekne - a city built on seven hills, is located in the east of the country, is "the heart of Latgale". Date of establishment - 1285, the first written reference to the XII century. Earlier name - Rozitten (until 1893), Rezhica. In 1285, Master of the Livonian Order Wilhelm von Shauerburg built a well-fortified castle of the great moraine boulders, calling it Rozitten.
