A small historical reference

Vanadzor - the center of Lori region of Armenia, located in the north of the country, at the confluence of the rivers Pambak, Tandzut and Vanadzor. Recorded medieval settlement Karaklis not preserved. The status of the city since 1828. Earlier names - Karaklis (up to March 5, 1935), Vanadzor (until 1993). Name Karaklis or Karakilisa ("Black Church") is due to the fact that in the city until 1828 was a black church.

Attractions - the temple of the Holy Virgin (1831), the Russian church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1895), "Black" church.
