Gyumri - the center of Shirak region, the second largest city of Armenia, located in the northwest of the country, on the border with Turkey. The border town fortress. Date of foundation and the first written mention - V century BC. Previous name - Kumayri (until 1840), Alexandropol (until 1924), Leninakan (until 1990), Kumayri (until 1992).

Attractions - The Church of the Holy Savior - Surb Amenaprkich (1847), Church of the Holy Virgin (XVII century).
